The role of Tokugawa Ieyasu during the transition from the Ashikaga Shogunate to the Tokugawa Shogunate
Tokugawa Ieyasu was a Shogun during the Tokugawa Shogunate. He defended and expanded his domain and fought to keep everything in order. Tokugawa Ieyasu expanded his land by successfully attacking the Hojo family evidently showing his determination. After Hideyoshi’s death, Tokugawa Ieyasu triumphed in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 and became Shogun to Japan’s court in 1603. Tokugawa Ieyasu’s action and determination helped the Tokugawa Shogunate come into power by expanding the land. Tokugawa Ieyasu’s role during the transition between the two Shogunates caused the Tokugawa Shogunate to form through his well thought-out plan in order to make him very powerful in society. |
